The Moravian Texts

As a daily reading of the Bible, I use the Moravian Texts. It includes a passage of the Old Testament, Psalms, and New Testament. You work your way through the Bible in a year. You can subscibe to a daily email with your readings, for free, by following the link below.

Walking in the Holy Spirit

How? How do I know when I am walking, overflowing in His Spirit?

Two thoughts:

1) Isabel Allum teaches this and it sooo resonates with me.

Romans 14:17 says, “… for the kingdom of God is not eating and drinking but righteousness (R+) and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit.”

When I choose to walk in R+ (her simple definition is ‘what makes God smile’), peace (resting, trusting in Him) and joy (calmly happy)..I am in the Holy Spirit. This has helped me to practically know how to choose to be ‘filled with the Spirit’. It is not based on circumstances one is in, but on the assurance of a right relationship with God (won by Jesus and gifted to us by faith), knowing that HE is in control and I can rest in that…then the joy comes.

2) As I meditated on this, God seemed to be saying ‘ You have My Spirit flowing through you when you can look at the person in front of you and sense My love for them, for I AM Love. And I do love everyone whom I have made.

Liquid Gold Dressing

This recipe comes from Becoming Vegan by Brenda Davis and Vesanto Melina. It is a book on nutrition and has only this one recipe. My skin was dry and flaky and when I started using this recipe, my skin normalized and was soft and no longer flaky. And I love the taste of this dressing which I use on rice and pasta…anything that needs a taste lift.

Liquid Gold Dressing

1/2 c. Flaxseed oil

1/2 c. Water

1/3 c. Lemon juice

2 Tbsp.  Balsamic or raspberry vinegar

1/4 c. Coconut aminos or Bragg’s or tamari (I use less.. a tbsp to start and add more as needed)

1/2 c. Nuitritional yeast

2 tsp. Dijon mustard

1 tsp. Ground cumin

1-2 tbsp. Ground flaxseed to thicken if you prefer a thicker dressing

Blend until smooth. Makes 2 cups and can be refrigerated for 2 weeks ( but mine never lasts that long!)

Why a Blog?

I love to share what I have been reading, learning and discovering.

I have called the blog FaithFoodFriends.

The Faith part will be quotes, thoughts, books etc that I am currently excited about and want to offer to you.

The Food will be whole food plant based recipes and information.

And the Friends refers to my waldorf inspired  dollmaking hobby.  Again, a forum to share an interest.

So that’s it! If you enjoy any of my posts, i would appreciate a hello. 😄

I will start posting soon!
